Review of the Land: Catacombs (Book 4)
"Promises were made..." That is a quote from the book and it is relevant because the title makes certain promises that are not kept. I was all excited because I was ready for the catacombs. Guess what doesn't happen. Why is the book called this when there is no catacomb action? That's the first reason for the 3/5. The second is the characters immaturity and bipolar idiocy going from juvenile delinquent with a vocabulary to match and courtly noble, which after the first personality quirk sound ridiculous coming out of his mouth. The sexual innuendos are quite tiresome and too numerous, making me want to fast forward. There is a lot of "crunchy" redundancy that again I wanted to fast forward through. I actually fell asleep at some points. However, I did enjoy some parts and I think that the author has a talent for writing, which is why I rated it as high as I did. I'm going to power through the rest of the series though, because I hope the main character can grow up a bit. As always, the narrator did a great job.
