Review of The Land: Predators (Book 7)
For the most part, I found this book quite satisfactory! It was extremely long, which I totally love, however, there were a lot of redundant parts and unnecessary exposition that I fast forwarded through. Look, I enjoy learning about the drops and new items the MC gets from kills and quest completions, but when prompts are repeated endlessly that are the same, it get's kind of dull. With an audiobook or a regular book, either way that can be fixed by just skipping, though granted, it is easier to do with a regular book. I also found it to be predictable at time, but then, when you play enough video games, they tend to get predictable. I didn't mind that. I still often found myself rooting against the MC a lot when the stakes weren't high, because I find his behavior often detestable, though he is occasionally noble. I laughed out loud when the sprite hearth-mother put a spell on him that made his illicit behaviors potentially have repercussions. And I was saddened when the author killed off certain characters, though I know it was necessary--high stakes and all that. After seven books we're finally getting into the meat of why the MCs there in the first place. It took a while, but I'm even more intrigued now. I am ready for the next book, mostly because I want to know what he got in return for his latest victory.
